REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT 21B

Idahoans are some of the most creative, kindhearted and hardest working people you’ll ever meet. There truly is no problem we can’t solve when we work together and act on our conservative principles. I’m asking for your vote May 19th in the Idaho Republican Primary.

MEET ELI HODSON

Hi, I’m Eli Hodson. I grew up in Boise, Idaho with five siblings in a home on the bench, near the Boise Train Depot. As a young man, my parents instilled in me the values that have always made this state an incredible place to build a business, interact with the community, and raise a family.

My siblings and I got our first business experience selling soda pop to thirsty parade watchers at the Boise River Festival. When our hard work paid off and we earned our first few hundred dollars in profit, I was hooked on the amazing feeling that comes with acting on individual initiative. I also learned the value of careful planning, execution and follow through.

At the age of fifteen, on my own initiative, I walked two miles down Capitol Boulevard and marched into Senator Craig’s office in the federal building to announce that I was ready to get to work serving the people of Idaho.

I was “hired” on the spot and was brought aboard as an intern, where I spent the summer working with the Senator’s staff clipping important newspaper articles, gathering relevant information for the senator and helping prepare for the summer’s big event - the arrival of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Mr. Principi - which went off without a hitch.

With my intern experience, I was hooked on working in the political world and also taking on volunteer opportunities to help the residents in my community and state. I found a deep satisfaction helping voters who called in seeking the Senator’s assistance. Going forward through high school and college, I actively participated in a variety of volunteer opportunities and served as a College of Idaho student senator.

In 2008, I was hired as a campaign staff member for Jim Risch’s U.S. Senate campaign, where I travelled our incredible state meeting folks from every town and city, organizing campaign events, distributing campaign materials, and helping push the Senator over the finish line for his victory. After winning, I served as a staff member for the Senator and worked in Washington DC, where I married my beautiful wife, Katie.

In 2014, with our first child on the way, we decided to move back home to Idaho. We now have two children and live in southwest Boise, where we run our small family-owned business and where our children and two black labs enjoy getting out and enjoying the fresh Idaho air.

As a candidate running to represent District 21 in the Idaho House, I’m asking for your vote. I think it’s time your voice is heard again. Electing an out-of-touch “insider” to represent us would be an incredible mistake. Ada County has seen one after another district gradually turn blue as the Democrats extend their reach. In many ways - they’ve been able to do this because some folks in the GOP haven’t made the effort to reach out and engage with the people who put them in office.

As District 21 becomes increasingly urbanized and less agricultural, the risk of seeing a liberal Democrat win the seat becomes more and more real. Instead of watching that happen, I’m here to extend a hand and let you know - your voice matters to me. Your concerns must be heard. And your ideas will be implemented. As your Representative, I’m a public servant, and my job is to serve you - not the other way around.

Idahoans are some of the most creative, kindhearted and hardest working people you’ll ever meet. There truly is no problem we can’t solve when we work together and act on our conservative principles. I’m asking for your vote May 19th in the Idaho Republican Primary.
